Rear brakes appear to be dragging in park or low speed. Manual trans, checked & ok'd by AAMCO. What could be wrong, & is this costly?

Hello,

So, what did that shop tell you? Did they find any issues?

The brakes can drag due to a few different reasons. It could be due to a collapsed brake hose that is not allowing the wheel cylinder to retract when the brake pedal gets released. It could also be due to a bad wheel cylinder that stays engaged just a little to create the drag. It could also be due to the parking brake not releasing all day. Which can be because of a loose brake cable or a faulty adjuster.

The best course of action would be to take a look at those possibilities. Inspect the brake hoses, wheel cylinders. Make sure that the parking brake is working properly.

I have attached diagrams for your reference.

Please let me know if you have any questions.
Thank you.
