Hi i recently purchased my sedona 2.9 CRDI Manual to find when i drove it home approx 80 mile i must say it drove like a dream but when i parked up there was a pool of gear oil under my car can anybody shed any light on where it could be coming from and by that i mean is there a commen fault on them where they leak gear oil fromlike a simple silly seal or something like that.
Any help would be much appreciated.

You sure its gear oil instead of engine oil-could be leaking at the drain plug

Hi thanks for your reply but it is defiantly gear oil that is leaking from the car.

You should be able to identify where its leaking at, then come back and tell us where

Great stuff I'll put some more gear oil in it as its leaked most of it I think I'll power wash it first then I can see where it's coming from.

Hi I have now found out the gear oil leak is coming inside the gearbox bell housing I have power washed all the gearbox and surrounding areas removed gearbox drain plug totally drained the box dry and I have refilled with the correct grade of gear oil 2.5 litres and then took it for a run it only seems to leak when the vehicle is in use.
When I parked up there was drips coming from the bottom of the bell housing so I'm thinking the seal on the main shaft that goes into the clutch plate must have failed that's the only thing I can think of.
Does anyone know if this is likely gearbox is very smooth through the gears no whines or anything like that it just leaks oil.
HELP PLEASE it's driving me bloody mad.
Thanks for reading.

Sounds like you're on the right track with the seal main shaft-to find out you need to drop it

Would you know if it is just a standard type of press in oil seal.
