This is about a 2000 Jeep Cherokee 4.0L 6 cylinder. It all started a few months ago when my a/c quit working. Was just going to live without since it had only been about a year since I last put freon in it. It blows kinda cool, but not cold and kinda warm, but not hot. It almost seems like it stays the same temperature wether the heater or a/c is on. I figure it was the a/c compressor and I didn't have money to replace it. So months later (now) when ever I apply the brakes or take my foot off the accelerator it makes a humming noise. This noise gets louder the faster I am going and the harder I step on the brakes. Could this issue and my suspected a/c compressor issues be related? If not what is the real problem I am having here?
Also when I pop the hood while the engine is still hot, I notice a very slight burnt smell coming from under the hood
