2000 Jeep Cherokee Sport oil filter housing. Can this part be defective to be slightly leaking due to age?

After the last oil change, the car has been slightly leaking which has never occurred before. The leaking consists of drops. The same place who has performed the last oil change is telling me now (another oil change is due) that the oil filter housing needs to be replaced. Is this occurrance due to the age of the car or was a mistake made during the last oil change?
By the way, the same place just replaced the throttle body.
Thank you an advance for your reply.

Age shouldn't be a problem because a new gasket is always included. Make sure it is tight. Make sure it was put on correctly.
