Picture number 1 is my “under the hood fuse box” . I am drawing your attention to the two cables circled in YELLOW. I know the one curly cable is connected to the Battery. I am inquiring as to what is the straight cable connected too? How long is this cable and can it be replace? Is that cost exspensive? In other words, would it be worth replacing?

Picture number 2 is the reason why I ask. I noticed about a week ago that the straight cable was frayed, the red circle. What is the problem? Can it be fixed? I am still driving the car, should I?
The only fuse that I know, not working is the “power door locks”. I don’t even know if that has anything to do with the frayed wired.

The other cable is to the alternator and if it is slightly frayed, you need not worry too much. Have it reinsulated and all shoud be good.

Thanks for replying. So all I have to do is get the tubing re-insulated. Perhaps my second picture was not clear enough. I am including a clearer and better image. As you can see there are wires that appear rusted and broken in half. Can these wires be repaired before re- insulating the cable?

These two pictures are at different angles.

I don't want the "alternator" cable to burn out while I am on the road or doing heavy traveling.

Trying to response back is not as easy as it looks:) Thanks.

The damage seems rather bad. You need to repair before reinsulating.

Pull the wire out as far as possoble and after cleaning the portion, use a soldering gun to apply solder to the wire to patch them up and it should work.

Remember to disconnect the battery while you are doing so as it is connected to the battery via a main fuse.
