I am looking to buy a used van (GMC Savana 1500 Regency / Coronado conversion van. 5.7L V8 OHV 16V engine). that will be converted into a handicap van. I found a van with low miles but the seller states, "Van does have an issue starting about 20% of the time. However if you spray a little Ether, it starts every time. "

If I buy this what could I be getting my self into? I'd sure hate to get stuck on the side of the road in a wheelchair. Is this minor or major. Any guess on a repair cost? Thanks!

if he has to spray ether in it the fuel pump is either weak or going out. it can be anywhere from $600-800 to repair

Well, I have found a Ford E150 v8 van with 71000 miles. It is $6900. I can have it converted to a handicap van. Is 71,000 miles a lot for this van? My eldest son said they are good for 250,000 miles if you take care of them. What do you think. Thanks, Don

no 71K isn't a lot of miles what year is it as if it is older it will break down due to age mainly. But it also depends on how well it's been taken care of. have a independent mechanic look it over and see what he thinks. are the fluids burnt looking or black? It would pay for you to have a local guy check it over get his opinion as he can physically see it.

Thank you! It is a 2001 and it is within my budget. I'll have to find someone look at it. It is at a used car dealer lot two hours and fifteen minutes from my house. I can't find anything closer. Don
