2000 Ford Windstar Fuse 19 keeps blowing

As far as the problem, if the OD light is flashing, that tells me there is a trouble code stored in the computer. You need to have it scanned to determine the code. That will help identify where the problem is coming from.

What does fuse 19 power?

Lol, yea I have my hands full. We did have it scanned and it popped up a bunch of codes. The codes came back for every solenoid, the canister solenoid, and air conditioner compressor. The fuse 19 powers a ton of things. Ax4s trans axle, vapor management valve, ac clutch relay cool, egr control solenoid, engine fuel control ho2s #11 sensor, engine fuel control ho2s #21 sensor, catalyst monitor ho2s#12 sensor, catalyst monitor ho2s #22 sensor, canister vent solenoid. When we read it on the scanner it came back that it was affecting shift solenoid a b and c, and torque converter clutch solenoid. We checked all of the wiring to make sure nothing was burnt or fried , everything looked fine.

One more thing..... One time when we were using the cruise control the whole van seemed as if it shut down, so we quit using it

Good lord, where to start... Does the fuse blow as soon as you put it in, or do you have to first turn on the key for it to blow?

The first time it blew, all I did was start the van. We replaced the fuse. I drove maybe 3 miles and it blew again. Now when we replace it, it varies. It never lasts longer than 5 miles.

If you replace the fuse and turn the key on / engine off, will it blow after some time passes? I have a feeling there is a short with the fuel pump.

At first it was taking some time to blow, now it blows right away. Funny u say that, cuz today it wouldn't start at all and u couldn't hear the fuel pump kick on. I think he said the PCM fuse had blown.

Fuse # 1 was blown which controls the PCM had blown. How would we find the short?? I'm desperate :(

Ouch... that one hurts. The only thing you can do is check for wiring issues that could cause a short. However, the problem could be internal within the PCM.

Try this... replace the fuses and pull the fuel pump relay and see if it blows the fuse again. Also, disconnect the battery, unplug the PCM, and reconnect the batter and fuse to see if it blows the fuse that way. Basically, I am trying to determine which circuit is causing the fuse to blow. Do one of these at a time.

Also we have had to replace the fuel pump relay before.

Tried what you suggested, no fuses blew either way. Took the van for about a mile trip to warm it upand the fuse blew. Od light flashing and stuck in second gear. Brought van home n replaced fuse. Turned ignition to on position n fuse blew immediately. Removed fuel pump relay and replaced fuse and turned to on position and fuse blew immediately . Removed and replaced fuse and relay and disconnected negative battery cable and PCM. Replaced negative cable and turned key to on position while PCM still connected and fuse didn't blow. It seems once the van is warm the fuse blows faster

With the PCM disconnected, the fuse didn't blow? Or was it still connected after disconnecting the battery?

We did it exactly as u said. My bf says he thinks it may b something internal in the transmission, I hope not cuz I can't afford that. It's weird cuz the van was running perfectly fine, and then out of nowhere, this happens

I hate to say it, but at this point, we need to get some things checked that will require special equipment. Since it doesn't blow when you disconnect the PCM, it could be the issue.

Well, we got the van fixed!!! My bf decided to take every wire off and hook them up one by one to find the short. Turns out it blew when we hooked in the o2 sensor. He took it off and the wires were completely fried. Replaced the connector and we r good to go!!!!

Me too. Once again, thank u for all of ur help. When I called the ford dealer for help they wanted to charge me $115 just to diagnose n wouldn't give n e advice

You know, I don't know what is happening in the world anymore. When it gets to a point that a person can't help another, something is wrong. Dealers act like 150 dollars is nothing. Trust me, I know what it takes to save it.

Just had this same issue. When I unplug the PCM fuse 19 does not blow. I have been having codes 0141 and 0161 plus brake and abs lights on for a few weeks prior to this. Oxygen sensors and wheel sensors have been replaced. My question is can a sensor short be reflected back through the PCM to blow the fuse? I don't have a schematic.
