How do I find out if there are any computer updates for my vehicle, and if there are do I need to have them installed? I recently had a new revised throttle body assembly installed on my Ford RV van conversion (Chinook). This repair was to fix an acceleration problem and a loss of power I was having after driving 2 hours. The problem was not fixed and I was then told I needed to install new computer software that would operate the new trottle body correctly. I have been to three different mechanics with three diagnostic fees and none of them can diagnosis what is wrong with my vehicle.

Hi, I did ask a Ford Dealer, while my vehicle was in being diagnoised for a lack of acceleration, loss of all power after 2 hours of driving. I was told not to do any computer updates until the problem I was having was diagnosed. It was at the Dealer for 8 hours and they couldnt find the problem. A previous mechanic (who's work history was Ford Dealerships) had told me I needed a new revised throttle body assembly which I had him install along with two new heat sensors, and fuel filter. When that fix didnt work, this mechanic told me I needed to get a computer update for the throttle body. I called four different Ford Dealers and they didnt believe I needed a computer update for this part???

they are correct. it sounds like the pedal sensor is the issue which is the other half of the fly by wire system.
