Speedometer quit

My speedometer stopped working, 2000 Ford Ranger XLT,4x4 truck. And when I try to ingage my 4 wheel drive at the switch inside the cab it does nothing also. Was thinking it is going to be an electrical problem. Are thrse two problems related ?

I don't think they are related. One of the most common problems with the 4wd is the actuator on the transfer case. Check to see if it is getting power. As far as the speedo, have the vehicle speed sensor checked to make sure it is working.
