Just bought a 2000 and 2003 about 4 weeks ago. Brakes worked very well. About 2 weeks ago, got burning smell and smoke coming from rear driver side brake. Rim was very hot to touch. Fast forward to 5 or 6 days ago, brakes started to grind. Grinding has gotten much worse since. Brakes seem weak now. Today, I was driving and heard a dragging noise, came to the conclusion that one of my wheels was not spinning. Sounds like rear passenger side but not 100%. I do not have facilities to lift truck in air, but I can do basic troubleshooting. Any help to get to bottom of grinding and locking up and burning is much appreciated.

Good afternoon,

Sounds like either the caliper or the brake hose on that wheel is sticking and not allowing the brakes to release.

The fluid is boiling from the heat generated and that is why the pedal feels different.

I would have the wheels checked. Most likely you will need pads, rotors, calipers, brake hoses and the fluid flushed to get rid of the old brake fluid.
