I have a 2000 Dodge Neon and my Blower Fan is making a type of grinding sound all of the time and once in a while it will squeal or howl, for various amounts of time. There is no pattern of the squealing/howling. If I have to replace the whole thing how much would that run worst case scenario?

Labor is a half an hr time's shop labor rate 80-100 per hr?The blower fan is 124 dealer price but if you got a aftermarket one you could probably get it a lot cheaper. If you were handy with tools you could change it yourself it's not that hard if the motor was bad.I found a blower motor for 40 plus shipping.
The blower motor is located on the bottom right side of the unit housing. The blower motor can be removed from the vehicle without having to remove the unit housing assembly.

REMOVAL

1. Remove right side scuff plate.
2. Pull back carpet.
3. Disconnect blower motor wiring connector.

Blower Motor Retaining Screws

4. Remove blower motor retaining screws, and lower blower motor assembly from unit housing.

INSTALLATION
For installation, reverse the above procedures.
