On my Durango we had to have the thermostat replaced and someone that had to involve unhoocking the battery I presume but ever since then the batter has been reading 17-18 volts so therefore my gage light comes on cause its to high...lights quit working as well as my rpm and mph gauges will work every once in a while...kind of needing yo know how to fix this problem if possible and if its an easy fix..at a total loss right now on what to have done

Start by measuring the two voltages on the two smaller terminal nuts on the back of the alternator. This has to be done with the engine running.
