coolant leak

Slow coolant leak, looks like failure of gasket between timing chain case and crankcase, near bolt that goes through plate for engine mount. Dealer says >$800 to replace gasket; lower guesses from Internet sources. My question: Is there any point in checking the torque on the mount bolt, maybe running a can of sealant, etc. Also, is any national brand coolant OK, or must I get the Chrysler antifreeze at dealership. Your suggestions much apprec.... happy holidays!

Okay, first, as far as retorquing the bolts, chances are it will not work. Second, are they sure it is the timing chain gasket and not a leak from the water pump? The sealer you are suggesting works good for radiators, but it if it is a gasket leak, chances are it won't work. Finally, as far as the coolant, I recommend using a GO-5 universal coolant anymore. It can be used with all types of coolant and not cause a problem.

99% sure it is the timing chain cover gasket: I removed the oil filter to get a clear view. Next step is to replace the oil filter, mix UV fluorescing dye in the coolant, apply pressure at radiator cap opening using rad pressure testing pump, and take a look with UV light. Your advice that sealer won't help a gasket failure of this kind is interesting.... I assume there is something about a copper head gasket that makes those sealers work in the head/block area?? Thanks!

The timing chain cover gasket is paper. If it is ripped, broken... the sealers don't seem to work. If they do, it is very temporary.
