After the transmission fluid was changed as it was mixing with water.the car started misbehaving .it started speeding even when you don't expect it to.then afterwards it started refusing to engage to higher gears.it will go to one sometimes two that's the furthest it is going.what could be the cause of this behaviour.

How much coolant got into the transmission? As far as the engine, do the RPM's increase when you are not touching the gas pedal?

The RPMs are normal only the engaging is a problem.

If there was a lot of coolant mixed with the trans fluid, there is most likely internal damage to the transmission. Also, has the check engine light come on?

Then it must be all time 4wd. If it continues, I would have the steering components checked. However, it is the nature of 4wd vehicles to sometimes bind when they are turning when in 4wd.

I don't know why, but I submitted one post and it ended up on this page. Sorry about that. Just ignore the last post. Since the light isn't on, I am going to recommend it is looked at by a trans tech. I am concerned that something may have been damaged by the coolant.
