Hi there, I am condering buying this car for my teenager. It has obviously been well taken care of, but when I went for a test drive, the check engine light came on. The current owner had a code reader, and this is the code that came up. My question is this....what does this mean (in layman's terms) and should I be concerned buying this truck because of it? Thank you!

I RECKON YOU FIGURED OUT......THAT WAS STUPID!

ON MY LAP TOP (WIFEY IS ON THE MONSTER MONITOR, 32" FLATSCREEN...PLAYIN' THAT STUPID CANDY GAME) AND I TOTALLY MISSED THE CODE AND TRAILBLAZER AT THE TOP.....THE OLE EYES AIN'T WHAT THEY WERE....2 YEARS AGO!.........I WAS ALSO IN A HURRY

THIS CODE COULD BE A FAULTY FUEL TANK PRESSURE SENSOR.....ON MY BROTHER IN LAWS S-10 IT'S ON TOP OF THE TANK....IT MIGHT ALSO BE A FAULTY VENT VALVE........COULD BE OTHER POSSIBILITIES TOO.....THESE ARE THE ONES I'M FAMILIAR WITH

ARE YOU EMISSIONS TESTED WHERE YOU ARE?

IF YOU DECIDE TO GO FOR IT ('MEMBER, I SUGGESTED A REAL VEHICLE EARLIER) IF YOU WILL RETURN TO THIS SAME POST AND REQUEST, I CAN TRY TO FIND SOME DIAGRAMS IN "MITCHELL I" THAT MIGHT SHOW LOCATIONS OF THIS STUFF.........IF YOU CREATE A NEW QUESTION, I MAY NOT SEE IT....I GET EMAIL ALERTS WHEN A POST I AM "ON", HAS ACTIVITY..........I CAN MAYBE MAKE SUGGESTIONS ON HOW TO FIND A DECENT/INEXPENSIVE SHOP, IF YOU ARE UNABLE TO DIY

Thank you for the reply! I guess I just want to know if this is just about changing the sensor or if this code signals something that is going to become a headache later on. (so if this code is known for signaling such and such problems, for example). Any insight is very appreciated!

Per your request, this is a 2000 Chevy Trailblazer! 4.3 v6

cj handed this off to me, this is a fuel tank pressure sensor problem it can be a poor connection or a module etc. it may be like that due to a recent fuel pump replacement and not connected well or it can be something more serious. Due to the mileage on this even for a teen i'd seek another vehicle with less than 200k on it in your price range. A pro should realy look at this as he can scan problems that home scanners will not get. In oreder to change the sensor you need to drop the tank to get to but it could also be an evap problem that is why a pro should look at this. But even changing the sensor may not cure the problem.

I agree with hmac300. It should be looked into before a purchase is made. The code, is the following:

P0452- Evap Emission Ctrl Sys Pres Sensor Lo Input

Like hmac300 said, the sensor may be fine and it could be a wiring issue that could get into a lot of money in labor.
