power steering loss?

i turned a corner this morning, heard a loud sound...thought i had run over a cardboard box or something immediatley my battery light came on and i lost power steering? i pulled over turned car off to see if it was the new battery...it was not. i was able to re start car drove the one mile back to my house car was overheating? if i broke a power steering hose, would car overheat like that?

you broke your serpentine belt is more likely since all the things that quit are driven by it. put a new 1 on and you should be good to go.
