I have a 2000 Chevy Impala. Its "low engine oil" light is continuously on, even after an oil change. I never see oil under my car, yet I still have to add more oil. What can be the possible problems?

You probably have to reset the light and also adding more oil to it-you sure its not being burn in the combustion chamber/cylinders-get an engine compression check-

If its in the cylinders it will cause the engine to run rough and misfire

Does that light actually say "Low oil level" or just "Oil". I've never seen a low oil level light. The oil light refers to pressure, not volume.

Hi resmataz.

Hello Doc, I hope you had a good FD, good question -check the oil pressure with a mechanical gauge might be the oil pressure switch acting up and giving you the curve ball

The light actually says "low engine oil". It has been running a little rough. It kind of****** when changing gears...not all the time though. I had it looked at and they didnt know what it was. They added an "additive" and it ran smooth again, but soon doing the same thing later.

I wish I knew. It was a couple years back. I think it was a transmission thing (?).
