2000 Buick Lesabre Brake Question

I have a 2000 Buick LeSabre Custom vehicle. I was told by a friend of mines who is a mechanic that I need brake work done on my car. He stated that I need front/rear pads, front/rear rotors and front/rear shoes. I have been online trying to look for these parts and was told by a few people that my car does not have shoes and that I only need the pads and rotors replaced. So I just wanted to confirm with someone if this was correct or not since I no nothing much about cars. Thanks!
