Trouble codes

For my code 1100 MAF sensor intermittent. Would cleaning fix this code? I figured i got this code because it was dirty and not work like it should.

Its actually an inline six, BMW never made a V6. Which hose did you replace? What method did you use to extract the fault codes?

either way its still a 6 cylinder that aside.I stated already that it is the air pressure hose. I used a code reader.

Two of them are not listed and BMW does not use a manifold absolute pressure sensor on that model. Can you tell me the part number of the part that was replaced, air pressure hose is not a description that has meaning. I prefer to have the scan done with the proprietary BMW scan tool called a GT-1, you may need to seek out someone with the scan tool to figure out what is going on here.

when you go to the BMW Dealership and go to parts. When you look up emissions. There is a hose that goes to your purge tank and goes to what is the egr (but BMW calls it something else can't remember) that hose is called a air pressure hose. One on the intake and one on the exhaust. yea i'll try another scanner. But for the 1397 how can i test the sensors? or do you just replace them?

The sensors are hall effect sensors and testing them is inconclusive. Usually the faults that occur is what BMW calls plausibility faults, this can mean that the sensor has failed and/or is intermittent. This where the generic scanner falls down, it does not distinguish which sensor is inoperative, replacement of the both of them is a possibility, but there isn't a good reason to replace them both if only one has failed. The failure rate of the intake and the exhaust sensors is about the same so I can't give you a "go ahead and replace the .... sensor" because I just don't know. I am going to assume the air hose is for the cyclone separator. Realoem.com has a groovy exploded view of the hoses. Go to the site and put in this part number 11617533400 This will show the separator and attached hoses, let me know if this is right and if it is, which hose we are dealing with.

The secondary air pump, that's what the pump is named. It is for quicker starts for the cats.

What do we do now? Is that your question? What are you going to do about the failed sensor, since we don't know if it is exhaust or intake. The replacement of the secondary air hose will allow the monitor to run if the rest of the secondary air injection is functioning correctly. So the check engine light will probably come back on for the cam sensor, I'd say it's your turn, what is next?

I was told that it is either my exhaust cam sensor or its my vanos. How can i tell if its my vanos? I only have 130,000 miles that seems odd that my vanos are warn out.

When the vanos fails or when the cam sensor fails it will set a fault that generic readers dont always pick up, revisit the possibity that a proprietary scan tool will distinguish the issue once and for all.

You have a generic output that does not distinguish between either the exhaust or intake cam sensor. So I recommend you revisit my invitation to have the proprietary scan I mentioned performed. Or you could just replace them both and be done with it.
