BMW Z-3 Should I be usng the ATC which has something to do with rear-end traction control? When I press botton the little ATC light on dash comes on??? (Which means it is on??)

E34 went out of production in 1995. E39 is a 2000 5 series. Light on is traction control deactivated, push the button and the light goes off, the traction control is active.
