2000 Audi A6 Car running very rough

my car is running very bad. Has no power and sputters very bad when you try to accelerate. Also has a very strong burning smell. Seems to run somewhat ok when it is cold. Gas mileage has droped big also.Any suggestions on what this might be?

Is your check engine light on? Either way check to see if you have codes.

yes light is on . had code check at auto zone. has a list of like 10 things it could be. Most had to do with fuel to air mixture .
