i just got a 99 volvo s70, after starting the car, when you first take of, and any time your driving it, after you make any stop[ and you start to take off again, the car has no power. after you get going it drives fine, its just you intial take off lacks power. i cant pull out in front of anyone because id get hit. it reminds me of the flintstones and how they have to use there feet for the initial takeoff, but then there fine. i just drove it 1100 miles from my daughters in new york to where i live in kansas and everything else is fine but that. so my question is what causes that lack of power on takeoff? thank you

Could be caused by one of the following below

Oxygen sensor.
Catalytic converter.
Fuel injectors dirty/sticking.
Mass airflow sensor/Airflow meter.
Throttle position sensor.
Crankshaft position sensor
Knock sensor
Manifold absolute pressure sensor.
EGR Valve
Fuel pressure regulator leaking or defective fuel pump.
Fuel contamination.
Foul/defective spark plugs.
Open spark plug wires.
Ignition coil/Coil packs defective.
Incorrect ignition timing.
Cap and rotor.

Note:If it doesn't apply disregard it and keep testing.

the MAP/MAF sensor is the ol' accellerator pump that shoots a squirt of gas to compensate for the sudden air increase. that might be the first suspect to check.

the other helper component of sudden accelleration is ignition advance.
