i have a vw passat 1999 my idle keeps on going up and down and then sometimes my car will cut off due to the idling because my idle is not stable i want to know what can be the problems due to that

Check and test the mass aiflow sensor,throttle position sensor and the Throttle Valve Control Module

can it also be my throttle body. and i also wanted to know where my computer is at in the vw passat 1999 1.8t because i was trying to find out if it can be a computer problem because my mechanic said that it can also be my computer because he hook up something to read my computer and his machine dont work and i also took it too vw and they hooked it up to and it doesnt read either.
