I am replacing the gear on the power window motor. I am unable to determine how to remove the cover to remove and replace the gear. How is it to be removed?

If you go to ebay.com, and search for 'VW Beetle 1999-2005 Power Window Motor Gear Only. Left or Right Side", you will see a picture of the gear I am replacing. This gear is on the motor, and drives the gear on the window regulator to raise and lower the glass window.

To access the gear on the motor, there is a combination plastic and rubber cover, which covers most of the gear. The cover needs to be removed to remove and replace said gear.

Is the cover held on by rivet?

No rivet holding the cover. If I take a picture of the gear and motor cover, would that help? I see I can add an image.

See picture of motor and the new gear. The black cover is what I need to remove, in order to replace the gear with the new gear. Any ideas on how to remove cover?
