1999 Solara SLE V6 3.0 - Vacuum Question - Just bought Solara for my son. Previous owner installed aftermarket air cleaner. I found a vacuum line coming off of the VSV for the EGR (single port end) that is not connected to anything. The engine label diagram appears to have it connected to the air cleaner. There is no port/adapter on the aftermarket air intake tube for this line. Question(s): Is this line suppose to go to the air cleaner? If yes, can I simply install an adapter onto the air intake tube and plug the line to it? Does this line simply draw air from the intake tube, or is there another valve involved where the OE air cleaner box should be?

Thanks for your assistance, and sorry for the long question.

The smartest thing you can do is remove the aftermarket equipment and put the OEM stuff back on. There is no benefit to changing it and in fact causes more problems. It's just a way for somebody to make false claims and make money.

Thanks for the quick response and for the advice. I am looking for a replacement OEM cleaner. In the meantime, I will connect the hose to the intake tube. Found this link on the injen site that gives a good overview.

Thanks again.

95% of the CAI systems are useless. If air filter is isolated from engine compartment, then they won't do any harm.

If the filter is in engine compartment then you are simply pulling HOT air into engine.
