Why is oil and smoke coming out of the crank case breather?

There is smoke and oil spitting out of the crank case breather and the car misfire sometimes whenever I let off the gas pedal. Oil spits out of the breather whenever I hold the rpm at 3,000+. The only time oil doesn't drips out of the breather is if the engine does go over 3,000 rpm. I replaced the pcv valve with an oem from the dealership and it helped, but it still leaks some oil out of the breather. I installed an oil catch can that gathers the oil from the breather hose and the blow by gases leaves via another hose on the catch can to ie intake pipe. Whenever I drive on the hwy at a constant speed like 55+ mph for 10 minutes, the oil catch can collects about 1/4 quart of oil in it. I have asked here and there and all I get is a "I don't know" from several mechanics. A few say a seal some where is bad or my piston rings is worn out; there for allowing too much blow by gases pass the piston. I need confirmation on what is needed to fix this problem.

Could be an excessive blowby-try checking your engine compression and also check for blockage on the crankscase ventilation system-
