I have a Saturn sc2, sometimes the transmission will switch gears no problem. Sometimes it won't go into reverse. Sometimes it will drive fine then it's like I only have first gear. I just changed the transmission fluid and filter. What could it be? Please help.

So sometimes you have no reverse unless you give it gas?Any codes in the computer? Sounds like a loose input shaft nut and or worn pressure regulator bore.

I have a check engine light, but haven't checked it. I don't give it gas to go into gear. Sometimes it goes into reverse sometimes it don't. Like it's in neutral. Sometimes it drives fine sometimes it won't shift out of first. Could it be a sensor

If its not going into reverse its not a sensor its most likely a loose input shaft nut or worn pressure regulator bore. I am factory trained on these cars and know them well.As far as the noise it could be a idler pulley bearing. Is it coming from the engine belt area?

The regulator bore is part of the upper valve body that the pressure regulator rides into to control the transmissions line pressure. The bore wears causing high or low line pressure causing shifting issues.A line pressure test on the transmission would have to be done to see what was going on.
