Another question:My Saturn SC1 idles high AND stalls intermittently on acceleration. I checked the pcv hose and changed the pcv valve. I took off the IAC and cleaned it, same problem. I replaced the IAC (from salvage yard), same problem. Is there a way to check the IAC? Do you have a vacuum diagram?

So how high does it idle?Any code's?I posted a vacuum diagram for you.To test the iac you would have to use a scan tool with the correct special test saturn software that would test the iac a valve itself and the computer and wire's controling it.They have a iac tester to test the valve itself that you plug the iac into and can make it come out and retract.Have you ever changed the coolant temp sensor?

there is no check engine code warning. It can idle high and when I turn it off and start it again it will idle back down to normal.

How high is the idle?Have you checked the coolant temp sensor and the connector for being corroded?

It can cause a high idle hard start no start overheating surging dieing while driving a lot of different things to happen.You can expernice one of these on multiple symptoms.
