I have been told that my ECM is causing one of my fuel injectors to squirt gas into my cylinder causing gas to get in my oil and my gas runs out in minutes! Im not sure if it's really the ECM causing the problem, but all my lights come on telling CHANGE OIL, CHECK ENGINE, LOW GAS, ETC. Would my ECM cause this problem with my warning lights and fuel injector? Right now Im driving my car without one of the injectors connected just to save my gas from draining so quickly. When I drive, the car shakes in Drive and Reverse but in Neutral and Park car sounds quiet and still as ever. I don't understand. Do you think the bad injector is causing the ECM to set off all the warning signals or do I need to replace the ECM along with the injector?

most likely all these things did not happen at once. it sounds like you need some work. first of all the ecm could be grounding the injector causing it to flood. in order to know for sure you have to disconnect ecm and injector and run a resistance check on the wire to see if it is shorted to ground. if money is a real problem a temporary fix would be to cut the ground wire to the bad injector and tap into the ground of the injector beside it, this will work, i have done it on a injector that was not firing. let us know how you make out.

There's a whole pile of miserable computers. If you're referring to the Engine Computer, look on the firewall, inside the car, to the right of the brake pedal.

if the readers do not power up, there is a problem with the aldl connector.
if it does power up and will not communicate, then there is an issue on the bus line. if that is the case, you need a shop to track down the issue as one of many of the computers on board may be bad causing the issue.

I Replaced the ignition switch it was bad, While charging the battery tried to start, what I believe to be the computer module, hummed but the engine would not turn over.. Then when I would turn the key on the computer mod would click, click, and when i would try and start nothing no noise of any kind. Replaced the battery bolts and charged battery, now there is nothing all the lights come on but when i try to start it there is nothing no clicking or humming?

It sounds like the switch you replaced is bad. When you refer to computer module, where was it and what did it look like? Does any thing work? Are you sure you have a good ground to the engine block from the battery? If you check the battery with a volt meter, how many volts is it producing?

Let me know. Sorr about all the questions. I'm just trying to eliminate things. Also, what was the old ignition switch doing?

Have you had the computer scanned to identify why it is coming on? It sounds like it could be the throttle position sensor (TPS) or the idle air control valve (IAC). Take it to a nationally recognized parts store and have them scan the computer. Most will do it for free, there will be no money out of pocket, and then I'll know what direction to have you go.

Let me know what you find.

Ok, Well I have tried to have the computer scanned and the only 2 places in my small town that do it, they can't scan anything older than a '96. But i did notice that some of the vacuum lines were wore out to the point when I tugged on them they fell apart, I have replaced them and it seemed to fix the problem, for now.. I drove it about 5 - 10 miles with no problems.. If it starts again I will take it to a shop and have them scan it..
Thank you for your time and knowledge..

Craig..
