I am getting a problem where the car drives fine, then after a while it goes into a mode where it will stay in low gears, won't go past 40, and check engine light comes on.

Code is 1725, sensor failures or short.

I've already replaced the input and output sensor. I have the remaining sensor, part numberDuralast su3146.

I can't find it in the engine compartment anywhere. Even looked in the fuse box and under the driver side in the car (it's plastic so I'm thinking it can't be too close to hot metal).

Can anyone tell me where it is?

2.0L engine.

there is no code 1725. it may be 705 which is a crank sensor circuit and should be checked out professionally. if a trans problem have atrans guy scan it as it may be aninternal problem and probably is.

Before I take it in, I would like to replace this part.

Can someone that has done this or has access to the diagrams tell me where this is in the car?

I've searched google pretty extensively, and searched car pretty good. Can't find it.

I forgot to mention. If you turn the car off, or give it a few minutes, it starts working fine again until the next time.
