how do I check if my car has jumped timing?Its a cutlass 3.1 6cyl 1999

car ran hot a few times until water stop circulating.It started running rough and lost power.took heads off had them shaved put back together now car ideals rough and when in gear motor and car shakes badly.think may have jumped timing,got hanys book says nothing about cheaking timing,have new plug wires please help thanks
