1999 Oldsmobile Alero 6 cyl Front Wheel Drive Automatic sedan. I just purchased this car used and I can't find dip stick location.

You may not have one! Some of the GM's have just a red plug, you will need a lift, or a way to raise it enough to get under and check the fluid, book says remove plug, fluid should be level with the bottom of the hole.
