transmission will not go forward but will reverse perfectly

1999 Mitsubishi chariot . Can it be the motor stalling or what? after changing the solenoids valve harness to the transmission (auto), the transmission will engage the D gear but will jerk and cut off the engine instantly but will drive perfectly in reverse. if it is a stalling motor how can it be fixed.
