blinking service light and odometer and gauge malfunctions

hello, ok Ive been having a battery problem I just changed my battery but now here this evening I got about two or three blocks from my house and I noticed that my lights were dime and getting dimmer and before you know it the car was jolting and not going steadily then died and fortunately I had battery jumper right there to jump it now I know that when the service engine light is illuminated is bad but when it begins to blink that that is a code of some kind and the airbag light was now also illuminated could this all be the battery that I just got to be probly the true problem? I hope
