1999 Lincoln Town Car Found a (Bad) Coolant Leak

Hello,

I found a coolant leak at the end of the radiator hose on some metal part that leads to the engine right by the alternator. (I'm not too familiar with the terms but this is what it looks like, see 3 pictures below)

I am very concerned as it looks like a bad leak, when I am running the car and the thermostat opens up it basically gushes out.. Is this something I can fix myself?I am trying to avoid spending hundreds of dollars at the mechanic, but I will if I have to.

The pictures are not too clear regarding the exact source of the leak and a rough guess is that the housing of the hose connection has a leak. If it is a gasket leak, replacing the gasket would solve the problem. If the housing is bad, it has to be replaced. Other than that, I don't see a difficult repair.
