I had a customer come into my shop looking for help in getting his tachometer to work in his 1998 jeep. He has installed a late model GM LS engine with the LS computer, now everything works but the tach. He still has the original computer and sensor, it is in it's originai position. There is no way for the tach. sensor to receive a signal from the rear of the engine any longer. We are trying to figure a way to have the sensor pick up off of the vibration damper. How many pick up points do we need. There were eight slots in the rear two groups of four 180 degrees apart. How many are necessary to activate the tach? He has moved his sensor to a location to the front of the engine. How far from the surface does the sensor have to be? What must the surface consist of, how must this be cnfigured to operate the tach only? Can this be done?
