replace the VSS sensor

I need to replace the VSS sensor on a 99 jeep grand cherokee but I dont know where it goes. The book says on the left side of the transmission but I cannot locate it. Cant locate where the sensor goes

It should be on the left side of the transmission about 3/4 if the way back.
