How to replace turn signal assembly?

Full access to remove the old turn signal assembly looks like it requires removing either the bumper or another part of the body. I found one screw that holds it in. What else do I need to know? (I found other instructions here for a 1990s vehicle's headlamp that seem to involve a step with aiming the lamp. Am I right that this should not be an issue, since I am only replacing the turn signal assembly?)

Thanks!

Hi,

You need to remove the trim that covers where the assembly is bolted. There are four nuts that need to be removed and then the assembly will come off.

I attached the directions below.

Let me know if this helps.

Take care,

Joe

Thanks, but maybe I used the wrong name to describe the part. It's actually the turn signal for the front of the car that we are replacing. It looks to me like one has to remove both headlamp assemblies in order to remove the front bumper to get to the turn signal assembly. If so, I'm not messing with it, since that will involve re-aiming them (I think). Sound, right?

Hi,

No problem whatsoever. If you are wanting to remove the front headlamp assembly, it doesn't require the removal of the bumper cover.

I tried looking in my manual but had no luck finding the directions. However, I found a pic online and will try explaining how to remove it.

Before starting, disconnect the negative battery terminal.

If you look at the picture below, I highlighted two 10mm bolts, and I circled a plastic retainer pin (which I believe is removed with a Phillips head screwdriver).

The plastic retainer I mentioned needs removed so you can manipulate the bumper cover enough to remove the assembly,

Remove both 10mm bolts. Next, remove the plastic retainer. The lower portion of the assembly is connected in a rubber support. It will require you to gently pull outward while wiggling the assembly, but it should come off.

Once the assembly is loose, gently maneuver it off the vehicle.

Let me know if this is what you needed.

Take care,

Joe
