1999 Honda Civic Drive light on the dash

Need help with a 99 Honda Civic the drive light on the dash goes on and off, sometimes and the car shifts hard between 1st an 2nd and it skips when the drive light blinks on and off, after a few mins the drive light stays on and the car shifts great. Any suggestions
