I have a 99 Ford ranger. The brake lights do not light when the pedal is pressed. The cabin brake light works though. The brake lights turn on when the lights turn on. The brake pedal switch has been replaced, the brake lamps also. Any help?

brake lights should only come on with the brakes, not the parking lights.

check the bulbs and the sockets. use a test light and check for voltage with the brake applied.

Bulbs are new. Suppose both sockets could go out at the same time. I'll check. Thank you

The right bulbs are being used. 3157LL. There are 4 wires Brown black green and green with a red or orange stripe. He wires at the socket are black Brown and solid green. which wire would I jump at the switch? I'm guessing the green and Brown? If I jump to black assuming it is ground I might blow something correct?
