The issue began a few weeks ago. The engine would begin to overheat and the air would stop blowing cold any time I began to idle. I addressed the issue yesterday by changing the thermostat. I used clear RTK sealant and the standard 190 degree thermostat. I checked last night and again this morning for any leaks and could not find any.

On my way to work this morning, the car started and drove about 5 miles better than it has in a year. Then upon idle-ing for a few minutes, the engine acted like it wanted to die, the car began to overheat, and the oil pressure gauge dropped to 0.

This car is very old and I do not want to take it to a shop due to the cost of repair being more than the car is worth.
