I believe the hydraulic chain tensioner went bad allowing the chain to jump.
Mechanic changed the tensioner,but said the engine made a lot of noise when he started it then sounded normal but still runs bad.He is an instructer at a college and a Honda mechanic.I have replaced the plugs,wires,MAF,TPS,fuel filter,oxygen sensors,checked cats,fuel and fuel pressure,upper intake gasket was replaced with chain tensioner.Code reader shows random engine misfire only.Truck starts but runs badly.Rough idle,no power,very bad gas mileage.Repair manuals show many engine specific tools to replace and remove timing chains and recommends engine removal to access passenger side.That is not an option at this time.Can I align TDC#1,back the tensioner out,retime driver's camshaft,tighten tensioner?Where is the timing mark on the camshaft?Where does one buy the special Ford tools if they are required?
