Oil Pan Gasket

Hello, could someone tell me if you have to take the transmission off to do the oil pan gasket? Ive been told a lot of things on this model. It is a 4.0L V6 OHV and it is a 2WD.

how bad is the leak and location? maybe you can just clean area and silicone it?
