Hello, I cannot find a vacuum leak in my Ford Explorer. It sounds like it is coming from the back of the engine. Could It be a vacuum leak between the firewall and dash? My explorer has problems with the ac. Thank you.

Ive checked the engine and still cannot find it.

What is happening with the AC? As far as the leak, there are vacuum hoses there. Also, the intake could be leaking.

The engine revs up between 1st and 2nd gears when on and eventually rear end will slip after doing that for a while. After you turn ac off it will continue to do it then quit. I replaced the battery and it does not do it as often now but still does it every now and then.

The slipping must be coming from the transmission. The differential is can't slip. Have any warning lights come on?

Other than the air bag light coming on and the check engine light no. It has almost 204000 miles on it but it only does this with the ac on 95% of the time, every now and then it will do it without the ac.

What I need you to do is have the computer scanned. If the check engine light is coming on, there will most likely be transmission trouble codes stored. Find out what they are and let me know. NOTE: Many parts stores will scan it for free, so check them out rather than going right to a shop.

The codes are PO171 and it says Bank 1 too lean and the other one was PO172 and it said Bank 2 too lean but it came up only once.

as mentioned, that is most likely the result of the vacuum leak. You need to fix that first. Something tells me it will fix the other problem you are having.
