I just posted about the 99 escort. It's actually the 99 ZX2. Sorry about the mistake. I hope you can find the problems I'm having in my previous post. Car sputtering. Replaced timing belt, camshaft sensor and crankshaft sensor. I've replaced the coil pack, plugs and wires. Pulled up codes for retarded timing, camshaft sensor and crankshaft sensor.

did the work you did change the characteristics of the puttering or did it make no difference? or did the problems occur only after the work was done. either way it could be that your off a tooth on the belt.also check the cleanliness of the plugs for the cam and crankshaft. follow the wires and check for rubs or frays in the wires.

The car was doing that before I did all that. I took it to autozone and they pulled up codes that I mentioned in my original post. I did everything I mentioned and it still runs the same.

Does it matter if the bracket that holds the coil pack is really rusty?

The work I did had no effect on it. Runs the same. Is there a possibility that it could be my catalytic converter?

it is possible that it could be your catalytic converter but there should be a code for that. do those same codes still keep coming back? if you know you've got the timing belt marks right on, then id look at the ECM if you still keep popping those same codes. also keep in mnd that you should also look at as much of the wires that go to the crank and cam sensors to look for any kind of damage or dirt or grease. make sure the weather pack seals are in the plugs as missing seals can let in water. itll just be a silicone seal down inside the plug
