thepic oi'm sending is from a 2.0 as you didnt' tell us engine size. you need to loosentensioner to get belt off and on. It is ADVISABLE to replace the tensioner at same time as belt.

You have to rotate the spring loaded tensioner with one hand while slipping the belt off with the other hand.

I've heard that people remove the compressor and use a belt diagram for a non ac vehicle. Check the belt routing diagrams site under the popular site links on this page. See if it looks like it will work for you.

Let me know what you find of if you have other questions.

Engine problem
2000 Ford Contour 4 cyl Wheel Drive Type unknown Automatic 89000 miles
----------------------------------------------------------------
The timing was stuck so we had to have a new timing kit put on. 150 miles later the serpentine belt broke and 2 of the 3 bolts were missing off the main motor pulley. The mechanic said he did not touch that for him to fix the timing. I was told that the belt would have to be taken off to get to the timing. Which is correct? thank you

i dont see how he could change it with the belt on! it doesnt mean that he took off the harmonizer though, which is probably is what he meant.
