1999 Dodge Stratus ES 2.4, blows 20amp PCM/ASD fuse #5, at fusebox under hood, if RMP's exceed approx. 4000rmp. When the fuse blows the car shuts completely down. This happens when parked, driving and in reverse. Replacing the fuse will allow car to start and everything works just fine. This has been going on for 6mo's to a year.

scan for codes and check fuelpressure first, then check to see if your automatic shutdown relay is bad. replace with another like relay. then start checking for shorts in harness to ecm, it may be when vibration from motor gets that high it's shorting against something.

This guide should help

I have a 98 Dogde Stratus ES 2.4L with 113000 miles on it. Just today I started off from school and it was running fine and started up just fine, went to my friend's house, spent some time there and even then it started up just fine, absolutely no indications of ANY problem at all..
Drove 5 mins and decided to fill up some gas and once that was done, I put in the key, turned and .... nothing ! absolutely nothing, no sound, no lights no nothing.. I thought the battery could be dead but it cant die just like that all of a sudden can it ? I didnt leave any lights on or anything like that..

Got my car jump started, it hesitated but started eventually but then driving back home, I saw all the dash lights and instruments turn on and off, flickering more like it and it didnt stop.. Now I dont know whether its a problem with the battery or where to begin diagnosing the problem, all the fuses are intact and no check engine light when I got the car jump started also.. help !

I have seen batteries go away that fast before. What is the voltage at the battery? When the car is running, need to see what the alternator is putting out. Are all cable ends clean and corrosion free? that is the first place to start. How old is the battery?

Never mind, One of the battery terminals though firmly fixed was still kinda loose, wiggled it a bit and car came back to life.. Thanks for responding anyways, I feel like a fool for not finding this out earlier...
