1999 Dodge Durango front brakes lock n smoke

I recently bought this 99 durango. I drive up, up n down the hill to work. But recently I been noticing that my brakes are locking more n more. It came to a point that when I when to pick up my children from work n on our way home my durango didn't want to move. My abs n brake light came on. When I was stepin on the gas, it sounded like I was forcing it to move. It felt like something was holding it down. Thank God I live only 10 minutes away from school or else I would be stuck on the road with my children. Now I'm afraid to drive it at all. I can't even drive it to the nearest store because I can feel n hear the brakes locking up lil by lil. Please any one help any answers or suggestions. I'm sad because I can't drive it n not can't even take my children out in family event's. :( P.S Due to the font brakes locking up it wastes more gas then b4 it started this nightmare.

The front brakes are locking? Both sides? Where did the smoke come from?

The front brakes locked n kept it from driving. I had to wait for the brakes to kool down. It took 2 hrs to kool down n a friend had to release for pressure from the brakes by bleeding the brakes just to be able to drive it to my apt n not move it . It only smokes if we continue to drive it while the brakes are lock.

Which bleeder did he open to release the brakes, the one at the brake caliper or a different one?

It was both front calibers. That he release the pressure so he can just drive it to my apt.

If the calipers released when he opened the bleeder on them, most likely the rubber hose that attaches to the calipers is collapsed inside and not allowing pressure to return. Thus, the caliper doesn't release and causes the problem.

Let me know what you find.

Both hoses are fine. They both look good. What causes the brakes to close by itself! There constant pressure! I don't understand.

There isn't anything that would cause them to actuate on their own. Are you sure the hoses are good? Try this, when the calipers are locked, loosen the brake line at the master cylinder. See if that releases them too.
