The Durango problems is that when your driving the RPM shoots up then drops and it turns off. It will turn back after a bit.

No the engine light has not come on.

Interesting. Does it run for a while and then do this or does it do it constantly? You may have an ECM problem. I'd first hook it to a diagnostic computer and see what it says. Let me know what you find

We have the same issue. Does it almost all the time. Ours is a 5.9 4 wheel drive. It is my 16 year olds main vehicle because I drive our old Ranger. No check engine light has come on, can't afford to take it to a mechanic. Help please. Desperate mother of teen.
