As I was driving, I could feel the transmission slipping. As I went up a bridge, the transmission completely give out. A friend of mine said that it could be the torque converter. I have had the transmission checked and I was told it looked fine. No shavings in the fluid and the the fluid was still pink and not burnt. How would I go about checking to see if in fact the problem is the torque converter?

A transmission specialist can do a line pressure test and a converter stall test, start here.
